Some WED thoughts..!!

Stay together for our siblings

As we are considering the planet earth is a mother for all living and non-living things in the nature. So the term ‘sibling’ is relevant in this context to tell about these children. I am thinking that if we all are children of a same origin then why we are fighting each other or destructing natural habitats and killing each other. The earth provides us a good environment to live and exist. But industrial and scientific revolution happened in human race changed the style of development. We encroached into the habitat of our siblings; I mean other creatures of this planet and destroyed them and their life system. This blog is based on the importance environmental conservation as we all celebrated world environmental day (WED)on June 5th.

UNEP

Now a days we all are facing the problem of Global warming, lose of natural conditions to survive, contamination of drinking water, air pollution etc. Also some of the species of the animals and birds are going to be extinct from the nature. So let us come together to join in the movement for protecting our earth and environment.

“Great initiative in a great day”
I have found a new project of United Nations Environment Program(UNEP) in an African country of Rwanda. The project is focusing on the conservation of Gorillas, which is having huge threat on their life. The government of Rwanda took a great initiative which can change the whole system. The school children and environmentalists of the country join together on this June 5th and started their mission. Let us wish that it may be a motivation for other countries also.

My motto for this year “Reduce Plastic wastages”

One of the major problems now we are facing is the growing wastage of plastic products. Every hour tones of plastic materials are dumped around the globe. There are no proper recycle technologies for this danger. Sometimes these wastes are simply leave into rivers or even into jungles.

Growing threat

I could find that there are many incidents that the animals in the forest died due to eating plastic materials. The other major fact is that these materials won’t decay into soil for millions of years. Also it will affect the soil by lying as a layer on the soil and it won’t allow water to fall on the ground.

Some immediate actions:

*Use cloth or paper bags or carriers instead of plastic.
*Make proper waste management for plastic wastes.
*Don’t throw the wastes carelessly, use waste bins.
*Don’t throw wastes to water resourses.
*Don’t burn plastic wastes, because the fumes from that flames can cause dangerous cancer in human.

PLANT MORE TREES AND MAKE OUR PLANET GREEN AND CLEAN..!!

For a little Drop of Water…!

Like every year, we celebrated once more World Water Day on this March 22.

Our planet earth is containing its 97% with water. But the amount of water that can be used for drinking is only 3%. If any time one more world war happens, the main reason may be WATER..! I am going to share some of the facts that happens in my country India. In India, now almost 75% of area is under water scarcity. The level of ground water is becoming very low by the irresponsible use of water. All the urban areas are affected with the scarcity of drinking water. The available resources are pollutted by industrial, domestic and other chemical wastes. Also the increase in usage of ground water make the ground water resourses poor. These are the common facts which we are heared in many media and press.

India, the country where world’s second largest number of population resides. The available resources are not at all enough for all these citizens. The industrial revolution
in the country helped people by giving them an opportunity to earn and save something for next generation. But sometimes I feel that most of our industries are making
more problem than good things. I wont blame the companies, the governing bodies of this country only responsible for this. With out any proper study, giving non-objection
certificates is the root. Most of the industries are making some type of pollution in environment. But there is some limits that are established after detailed researches and
studies. The increse in number of bore wells also causes major problems.

In this march 22, the world water day in India started with a news about a report that was submitted by parliamentary committe of Kerala government. The content of this topic is a detailed analysis on pollution caused by Coca-cola bottiling company in Plachimada, Palakkad district. They had found that the company has to pay an amount of $48million as compensation. But the company went for a legalbattle with government. Let us look on the current situation in Plachimada and Kanjikode Industrial Area, where the another beverages giant PepsiCo works. A study by Hazard’s Centre, New Delhi and People’s Science Institute, Dehrarun is telling the bad effects of these companies on poor villagers. The water for drinking become polluted by the chemical wastes.
Multi-national corporates and common people:

The history of Plachimada strike and the famous leader Mayilamma are evergreen in people of Kerala. The multi national giants runs their factories with out any
humanitaran values. The Left front government of Kerala had given the permission for Cocacola in 1998, with out any proper study. They are permitted to take 5-7 million
litters of ground water per day. Let me remaind you a fact that the Palakkad district is one of the hottest places in this state. In summer days, the temperature rise up
to 40 degree celcius. The geography of this place is such way that the hot air from the eastern part of the state is making the place too hot. Also the most of rice fields of
Kerala are here. With out the proper availability of water how can the farmers survive? The factories exceeded their limits and took about 15-25 million litters of water by
using powerful pumps. So the result is the people in surroundings have to wait infront of public taps. The government’s policies are changed infront of these multi-national
companies. The people of a great democracy is facing a big threat. How can the next generation of this people live? The profit oriented economy has made this companies blind.

Any hopes??

If anything can do at this late moments for governments are valuable forever. The people selected you with lot of expectations. Before going for big deals, they should
consider all the aspects including people in the particular locality. Do things that the people really wants rather than doing things causes damages for all..

Let me conclude with some words…
“Water is a public property..also drinking water is not a favour it is a right of everyone..”

Ads for innovation…

Here the topic which I have taken is not at all a new one, but I would like to share my thoughts with all of you. My motivation to write this topic is some meaningful otherwise thoughtful advertisements that I could find in our media. Here I have examples of two Indian mobile service provider’s ads.. I am taking it as references because I am a common Indian citizen and like to watch television programs..! The ads are
1. Aircel-Save tiger forum

2. Idea cellular
First one is focusing on conservation of tigers in India and other is giving a message against deforestation. Both are relevant in this time. Here they are marketing their product by spreading new innovative messages. It is a good trend in my opinion. In India by latest calculation there are only 1411 tigers are left. For Indians, tigers are national animal and as Hindu concept tigers are the vehicle of goddess Durga. So they are sacred animals. But they are hunted for skin and other things. It is the time to act. The movement put forward by Aircel is really appreciable. A young tiger was lost his mother is the central character. A joined mission of governmental and NGOs are needed to protect these animals. Because they also have the right to exist likes all of us.

Secondly Idea cellular’s promotion. Now one of the main problems which the earth is facing is deforestation. Recently the world environmental meeting of Copenhagenthat started with lot of expectations and unfortunately nothing happened at the end. Global warming due to emission of industrial gases is the problem that we are going to be facing. It may cause to sink some of main cities under the sea. Now the forest area in India is terribly decreased to 20.6%. This reduced the natural living area of animals and birds. As a result they came out of forest for food and water. It is causing struggle between man and animals. The bollywood actor Abhishek Bachhan starred in this ad. It tells us to reduce the use of paper and there by stop cutting of trees.
Some other movements like NDTV-Toyotta Greenathon, also getting much appreciation. So all together , the ads should come with some thing special. A simple step can make huge impact in viewers. I am thanking you all the people who took this great effort.

Burning lives

Smoking of tobacco products has now becoming a common habit among people. The young generations become addicted of this. Not only smoking also chewing tobacco products and other usage of drugs are pushing our people to darkness. Here mainly discussing on smoking and its harmful effects on human being. Cigarette does contain several harmful and toxic chemicals which are fatal to the body.

More

Many of the smokers are sufferring from diseases such as lung cancer, emphysema, bronchitis etc. but it also affects all vital actions in our body.

Here we can see how smoking affects on our body parts.

Heart. The effects of cigarette smoking on the cardiovascular system are multifold: Smoking lowers HDL cholesterol (“good” cholesterol), even in adolescents. Smoking deteriorates the elastic properties of the aorta, the largest blood vessel in the body, which increases the risk for developing blood clots. Smoking increases the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, putting additional stress on the system that regulates the heart and blood vessels. In women, smoking increases risk for cardiovascular disease because it effects hormones that cause estrogen deficiency. Those who smoke a pack of cigarettes a day have almost two and a half times the risk for having a stroke as nonsmokers.

Bones and joints. Smoking has many negative effects on bones and joints since it impairs formation of new bone. Women who smoke are at an exceptionally high risk for developing osteoporosis, and women smokers have a slightly increased chance of developing rheumatoid arthritis. Smokers are also more disposed to developing degenerative disorders and injuries in the spine.

Bad skin. Because smoking restricts blood vessels, it can prevent oxygen and nutrients from getting to the skin – which is why smokers often appear pale and unhealthy. An Italian study also linked smoking to an increased risk of getting a type of skin rash called psoriasis.

Bad breath. All those cigarettes leave smokers with a condition called halitosis, or persistent bad breath.

Bad-smelling clothes and hair. The smell of stale smoke tends to linger – not just on people’s clothing, but on their hair, furniture, and cars. And it’s often hard to get the smell of smoke out.

Reduced athletic performance. People who smoke usually can’t compete with nonsmoking peers because the physical effects of smoking – like rapid heartbeat, decreased circulation, and shortness of breath – impair sports performance.

Greater risk of injury and slower healing time. Smoking affects the body’s ability to produce collagen, so common sports injuries, such as damage to tendons and ligaments, will heal more slowly in smokers than nonsmokers.

Other Disorders. Smoking increases acid secretion, reduces prostaglandin and bicarbonate production and decreases mucosal blood flow—which can cause peptic ulcers. Smoking also delays the healing of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Cyanedim, a chemical found in cigarette smoke, interferes with thyroid hormone production, which can lead to thyroid disease. Heavy smokers are at risk for developing cataracts of the eye, and smokers also have twice the risk of nonsmokers for developing macular degeneration, an age-related eye disorder. Smokers look older than nonsmokers since smokers develop more and deeper wrinkles as they age. Women who smoke are at greater risk for infertility. Those at greatest risk are women show smoke a pack or more per day, or those who started smoking before age 18.

Are we safe….???

Border Violations are  continuing in Indo-China border by PLA (Peoples Liberation Army of China):

According to union home ministry reports, there were about 270 “violations” by China on India’s western, middle and eastern sectors in 2008, while there were 60 such incidents reported so far this year. Beijing had in 2003 given up its territorial claim over the Indian state of Sikkim but was still holding on to its old stand that a vast stretch of Arunachal Pradesh belongs to them. The mountainous state of Arunachal Pradesh shares a 1,030-km (650-mile) unfenced border with China. The India-China border along Arunachal Pradesh is marked by the McMahon Line, a national border which is now known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

India and China fought a bitter border war in 1962, with Chinese troops advancing deep into Arunachal Pradesh and inflicting heavy casualties on Indian troops. This bitter experience from PLA is always a black mark on indian defence forces. The continuing violations from chinese shows they are making their army to attack on Indian states such as Arunachal pradesh and Sikkim. In size and technology PLA is slightly stronger than Indian Army. We have to take this problem politically into UN. One major problem is we are not very much aware of such problems…. that is we Indians……!
