For a little Drop of Water…!

Like every year, we celebrated once more World Water Day on this March 22.

Our planet earth is containing its 97% with water. But the amount of water that can be used for drinking is only 3%. If any time one more world war happens, the main reason may be WATER..! I am going to share some of the facts that happens in my country India. In India, now almost 75% of area is under water scarcity. The level of ground water is becoming very low by the irresponsible use of water. All the urban areas are affected with the scarcity of drinking water. The available resources are pollutted by industrial, domestic and other chemical wastes. Also the increase in usage of ground water make the ground water resourses poor. These are the common facts which we are heared in many media and press.

India, the country where world’s second largest number of population resides. The available resources are not at all enough for all these citizens. The industrial revolution
in the country helped people by giving them an opportunity to earn and save something for next generation. But sometimes I feel that most of our industries are making
more problem than good things. I wont blame the companies, the governing bodies of this country only responsible for this. With out any proper study, giving non-objection
certificates is the root. Most of the industries are making some type of pollution in environment. But there is some limits that are established after detailed researches and
studies. The increse in number of bore wells also causes major problems.

In this march 22, the world water day in India started with a news about a report that was submitted by parliamentary committe of Kerala government. The content of this topic is a detailed analysis on pollution caused by Coca-cola bottiling company in Plachimada, Palakkad district. They had found that the company has to pay an amount of $48million as compensation. But the company went for a legalbattle with government. Let us look on the current situation in Plachimada and Kanjikode Industrial Area, where the another beverages giant PepsiCo works. A study by Hazard’s Centre, New Delhi and People’s Science Institute, Dehrarun is telling the bad effects of these companies on poor villagers. The water for drinking become polluted by the chemical wastes.
Multi-national corporates and common people:

The history of Plachimada strike and the famous leader Mayilamma are evergreen in people of Kerala. The multi national giants runs their factories with out any
humanitaran values. The Left front government of Kerala had given the permission for Cocacola in 1998, with out any proper study. They are permitted to take 5-7 million
litters of ground water per day. Let me remaind you a fact that the Palakkad district is one of the hottest places in this state. In summer days, the temperature rise up
to 40 degree celcius. The geography of this place is such way that the hot air from the eastern part of the state is making the place too hot. Also the most of rice fields of
Kerala are here. With out the proper availability of water how can the farmers survive? The factories exceeded their limits and took about 15-25 million litters of water by
using powerful pumps. So the result is the people in surroundings have to wait infront of public taps. The government’s policies are changed infront of these multi-national
companies. The people of a great democracy is facing a big threat. How can the next generation of this people live? The profit oriented economy has made this companies blind.

Any hopes??

If anything can do at this late moments for governments are valuable forever. The people selected you with lot of expectations. Before going for big deals, they should
consider all the aspects including people in the particular locality. Do things that the people really wants rather than doing things causes damages for all..

Let me conclude with some words…
“Water is a public property..also drinking water is not a favour it is a right of everyone..”

Ads for innovation…

Here the topic which I have taken is not at all a new one, but I would like to share my thoughts with all of you. My motivation to write this topic is some meaningful otherwise thoughtful advertisements that I could find in our media. Here I have examples of two Indian mobile service provider’s ads.. I am taking it as references because I am a common Indian citizen and like to watch television programs..! The ads are
1. Aircel-Save tiger forum

2. Idea cellular
First one is focusing on conservation of tigers in India and other is giving a message against deforestation. Both are relevant in this time. Here they are marketing their product by spreading new innovative messages. It is a good trend in my opinion. In India by latest calculation there are only 1411 tigers are left. For Indians, tigers are national animal and as Hindu concept tigers are the vehicle of goddess Durga. So they are sacred animals. But they are hunted for skin and other things. It is the time to act. The movement put forward by Aircel is really appreciable. A young tiger was lost his mother is the central character. A joined mission of governmental and NGOs are needed to protect these animals. Because they also have the right to exist likes all of us.

Secondly Idea cellular’s promotion. Now one of the main problems which the earth is facing is deforestation. Recently the world environmental meeting of Copenhagenthat started with lot of expectations and unfortunately nothing happened at the end. Global warming due to emission of industrial gases is the problem that we are going to be facing. It may cause to sink some of main cities under the sea. Now the forest area in India is terribly decreased to 20.6%. This reduced the natural living area of animals and birds. As a result they came out of forest for food and water. It is causing struggle between man and animals. The bollywood actor Abhishek Bachhan starred in this ad. It tells us to reduce the use of paper and there by stop cutting of trees.
Some other movements like NDTV-Toyotta Greenathon, also getting much appreciation. So all together , the ads should come with some thing special. A simple step can make huge impact in viewers. I am thanking you all the people who took this great effort.
